Product Description

Give your skin the natural clean glow with our natural exfoliate Egyptian Loofah. Our Egyptian Loofah's are 100% natural sponges harvested from the fruits of the loofah/lufaa plants around the Nile Delta farms in Egypt. The scientific name of the Loofah species grown in Egypt is Luffa Aegyptiaca. The Egyptian climate and the genetic characteristics of Egyptian Loofah give you a Loofah that is rich in fibers and resilient. The Loofah plants look like giant cucumbers on the outside. You can eat them when they are about the size of a squash, or you can let them keep growing and air dry them for use as natural sponges. The growing/drying process takes a minimum of five months.  During the drying time, the luffa become a fibrous sponge that buffs your skin without abrasiveness. Since loofahs are plants, they do not all have the same size or color.  The drying process has an impact on the color.  These are all natural not bleached. They may contain a seed or two, but that does not interfere with the use of the sponge.

When the loofah comes to the end of its life, just toss it in the compost.  It is a plant after all.  I have mine for over 3 months and still going.

Loofahs are so effective to exfoliate your body and face.  They can also be used around the house to scrub dishes or in art sponge painting projects.

Loofah can be used dry as a heavy exfoliant by massaging your skin in circular motion.  I love rubbing my soap bar on it under water to clean and massage my body. The natural texture of the vegetable fibers will gently exfoliate away dead skin roughness by revealing newer skin cells. It alleviates stress and tension while stimulating blood circulation  It is easy to dry and looks great in any bathroom. After each use, clean your loofah from soap, ring out water and hang to dry in a place with enough airflow. If you need to freshen your loofah up, soak it in vinegar and rinse.

Notes: It might be stiff the first time you use it, but it will soften after 2-3 uses.  Maybe there are some black seeds as washed and dried by hand. You can soak in water to make seeds emerge.
